Conquer Time - Part 2: Why We Run
In Part 1 of Conquer Time, you saw how short life is and how most people waste it. Now let’s look at why you can’t seem to stop, even when you know better.
You know you’re running out of time. So why do you live like you have forever?
It’s not about discipline or willpower. You’re not lazy. The problem is deeper than that.
You’re running from something uncomfortable. Boredom forces you to face difficult thoughts. Your mistakes. Your problems. The things you’re avoiding. So you reach for distractions. You fill every moment. You stay busy. You never stop moving.
And because you never stop running, you never figure out where you’re actually trying to go.
Everyone tells you the solution is to eliminate distractions. Embrace boredom. Meditate. Sit with your thoughts. But when you try this advice, it doesn’t work. After a few days, it falls apart. Your mind spirals. The discomfort becomes unbearable. So you go back to the distractions and wasting time.
The advice isn’t wrong. It’s incomplete. There’s something that comes before. Miss it, and you’ll keep running in circles.
